A Forest House is an innovative vacation home built from wood and recycled materials, designed to be shared by two families who can use it together or separately. The house is 100 m² and accommodates up to 10 guests. The classic longhouse design features a double-height kitchen-dining area and a cozy fireplace lounge, which serves as the central gathering point of the house. Two bedrooms and two lofts offer flexible sleeping arrangements. There are also integrated outdoor sheds in the sloped roof and a 50 m² west-facing terrace overlooking the clearing and the forest. The house is built with a focus on sustainability and minimal climate impact. It is primarily constructed from wood and uses bio-based, industrially upcycled, and recycled materials. The sustainable principles are summarized in five tenets: 1. Climate-friendly construction with low-emission materials and minimal foundations. 2. Resource efficiency through bio-based materials, recycling, and upcycling. 3. Functionality and sharing with space for 10 guests within 100 m². 4. Low-maintenance design with simple materials, roof slopes, and overhangs. 5. Site-specific design with its back to the road and face towards the forest.
