100 x Forår

Design and development of a unique wooden art piece, made by reusing the old wooden structure from the roof of the building. The art piece staged the specific context, history and architecture of the exhibition building at Oslo Plads, Copenhagen and encapsulated the movement of the light and shadows in the exhibition space as a centerpiece. The exhibition ‘100 x Forår’ celebrated the first 100 years of ’Den Frie Udstilling’s existence. The participating artists were asked to contribute with artworks that related to the building, either as a symbolic reference or as a direct reuse of existing materials from the surrounding context. The artworks each represented an intersection between architecture and art. In line with the proud tradition of inviting profound international guest artist, the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei was selected for this specific exhibition, alongside acknowledged Danish artists, known for their specific role at the Danish contemporary art scene.
